movie posters?

how can i get movie posters from the theater, do i just ask? someone told me they raffle them off. or what about shops in LA any mom and pop style places around town that happened to have some?

2. Around my house, ask politely, and if they're almost done, they'll give it to you.
3. I don't know about where you live but around here they're all too happy when someone comes and takes them from the dumpster area before the trsh collection gets to them. It costs them big bucks to pay to have them hauled away. All you have to do is ask management for permission to take whatever you see. Just make sure you check it often as some of them get beat to hell pretty quick when the kids play around after a good horror flick.
4. Technically, theatres are not supposed to give away or sell the posters. They are technically the property of the studio. At my theatre we store them and at some point down the road we have a poster sale with any that have already gone to DVD. From my perspective, one of the main reasons not to just give them away is it can become a full time job just handling the requests from everyone who wants a poster. When you get something big like Spider-Man, you wind up having hundreds of people ask for the poster months before the movie even comes out.
